How do I start option trading with Scottrade?

I see my account is set up for that and also for margin trading. do I have to go through broker for option trading or i can do everything online myself without dealing with them? If i want to get long term APPL option today how much would it cost and how to start?

1. man you best call and ask, if your trading options no one on here could give you the right answer.
2. With all due respect....if you do not know the answer to your question......Don't do it. The risk of loss on options can be far greater than your investment!!!
3. You should be able to do it on your own. There is usually additional paperwork to sign so your broker knows you understand the risk of option trading.
4. You should always ask your broker. Just to be on the safe side. Be careful!!!
