Options Trading Tutorial

Why does Sims 2 Double Deluxe keep freezing when I create a sim and try to save?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, and did check all of the specifications before purchasing the game, so I do not understand why it's not working? It seems like if I use the characters that the game comes with it works fine, but when I attempt to save a character that I create it locks up the game and won't move forward? It also locked up one other time when I tried to watch a tutorial that came with it. I have already checked all my specs again, though am not too sure whether the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family that came with my computer is T&L capable, though what I read about it seemed to say that it is. I also un-installed and then reinstalled, so I have exhausted all options that I can think of...can any of you help with this issue? I hate to think that I would have to trade it in and lose money on the game since my computer cannot handle it, but I am starting to think that my computer just isn't capable...thanks!!!!

  1. You could -...It could just be the CD -...try it on a computer btw..i heard a lot of people were having trouble with the CD..
  2. You probably do not want to hear this, but I have by now lost count of all the questions I've seen on here about people having your exact same problem with that exact same laptop. The reason is this : Intel(R) 965 Express is integrated graphics. Integrated graphics care not recommended nor supported for the Sims 2. The Sims 2 requires a good, dedicated card. If you are running Vista, your options are even more limited. If you look at EA Games Official Sims 2 requirements for the Sims 2 and Vista it says that to run Sims 2 on a Vista machine you need one of the following cards: ATI Radeon(TM) series (8500 or better) 9600, 9700, 9800 X300, X600, x700, X800, x850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 NVIDIA GeForce series (GeForce2 GTS and better) GeForce 6200, 6600, 6800 GeForce 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 Even if you have XP it is doubtful you could play for any extended periods with that chip. Have a look at this chart: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements/MTS2_Recommendations Your chip is very first on the list.
  3. I answered a question just like your question one time and told the person to try updating their video drivers by going to Dell to get them. That asker ended up posting a link to a site which they found that helped them, so maybe it will help you too. I don't know as I have always heard that the game simply won't play well on the Dell Inspiron computers but the asker stated that the link made the game work for them. Here's the link that asker gave: http://vermontgeeks.com/blog/?p=69
  4. Same happens to me! try lowering the grafics in the game it might work!! :D
