I want to become an electrician?

I'm enrolling in a 6-8 month entry level course to learn the trade. What will the job really consist of when the classes are all over, I have other career options and I'm trying to decide if this is the way to go. Can someone please also explain how the "ladder" works, as in Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master. Also how much is the income level at the different stages. I am enrolling in Job Corps which offers a free 8 month course to become an elelctrician but it is only entry level, what pay should I expect?

  1. I dont know but if you really want to be an electrician then you should just take a chance to see how it is like. You can also pray to God and ask him if He really wants you to be an electrician.
  2. Electrician is good job and good money .. i am one ane work in London UK .. earn £90 an hour
  3. look up the local union in your town and go and talk to them so you can get on the right path they make pretty good money
  4. All I can tell you is never become a ground to the circuit and sparks are generally a bad thing. If either of the two occur, income prospects are not very good.
  5. Please Please Please do yourself a HUGE favor and call the local IBEW (International brotherhood of electrical workers) union hall and speak to them about the local J.A.T.C. (Joint apprenticeship training committee). This is the absolute best electrical training available. Tuition is subsidized, and you achieve the highest pay available (pay+benefits). If you would like to hear more, please email me and tell me where you live. Pay scale depends on where you live. A union electrician in San Francisco currently makes about $48 per hour. The same elecrtician in rural Utah would make about $18 per hour. Non-union S.F. $45 per hour NO BENEFITS Utah $12 per hour NO BENEFITS. cyberiian1@yahoo.com
