1. DO NOT EXPERIMENT IN OPTIONS WITH MORE THAN 1% OF YOUR INVESTMENT CAPITAL. Follow this rule until you understand why.
2. Trading options is very risky. You need quite a bit of experience before you can succeed. The 1% of your portfolio rule is excellent. There are as many option trading strategies as there are stock trading strategies. In my opinion most successful traders learn as many strategies as they can and then build their own after fully understanding them. William J. O'Neil's book How to Make Money in Stocks is very relevant. No more than 1%, options are not suitable for most investors.
3. Before you take a strategy trading course or try to learn someone elses strategies, you should have a strong knowledge of the basics. Check out http://cboe.com and click on the learning center. They have awesome courses from the basics to advanced startegies. Good luck!!!
