Learn To Trade Options Knowledge Base
What is the best way to learn options trading and day trading? Is there a website out there that lets you interact with those trading screens and lets you play with practice accounts? Options trading is preferential, but I am open to any ideas. I know websites like Interactive Brokers lets you have practice accounts, but you need to already have an existing real account.

What are the requirements to trade options if you use an online broker like Scottrade? Im a 21 college student and have decided to take a small amount of risk in the market, perhaps trading options. I have an account with the online broker Scottrade that has a value > 25000. I turned in the paperwork for trading options. So if I were to invest a small amount of my portfolio into a call option for (X) tomorrow morning, what steps do i need to take (besides filling out the order form i know how to do that)? Do I have to own shares in (X)? Also it's a $1.25 per contract, so does that mean for each single option I buy it cost $1.25? I just started a course in investments and will learn more about options later this semester, I just want a head start and possibly make some money. Thank You.
question about option trading? by trading options do you get a better return on your money than with trading stocks. I thought about trading options I just dont if the returns would better to make it worth while trying to learn option trading.

Has anyone else been taken by Income Strategies Institute? Income Strategies Institute (ISI) holds seminars on investing--stock market, real estate, & internet businesses. I attended an ISI seminar in which they offered to educate & train you to successfully trade on the stock and options markets, via seminars & other provided materials. Their speaker was very motivational & I purchased their Bronze workshop program which provided me with webinars, seminars, & materials to learn stock trading & options. This cost me to this point $ 8,015.00. I received 2 poorly written manuals (these manuals appear to contain plagerized materials--no notations or credits given to anyone & no copy right on manuals), attended 2 webinars, & two 2-day seminars on said subjects. The instructors on the webinars promised notes to be emailed to the students within a day or two. Instead, it took a week+ & seminars were worse! I found everything ISI had charged me for was available on-line or via other sources for free! ISI would not refund my money when asked!
Feasible? (Options Trading)? Hello I started learning to trade options a few months ago. Due to an overwhelming schedule, I'm still on my first few paper trades. I know the basics about how things work, I use basic methods of trend analysis (Elliot wave, moving averages) and I know in theory how to implement most strategies. What kind of returns can most people expect their first year of trading? And what place do some of the more advanced strategies (Iron butterflies, etc) have? I was told that most of the time the simple spreads and basic calls / puts bring in the most.
My dad wants me to learn a trade or skill to prepare for getting a job. Ideas? I'm 14, and we don't have much money, so whatever I want to study has to be available for free. My dad doesn't want me or my older siblings to be dependent on our parents in the future, because they won't be able to support us financially. So he's made it an everyday chore for me and my siblings to study something to fall back on if we're ever in financial trouble, or something to make money while building our careers. The problem is, I have no idea what I want to do. I think I have a fear of thinking that far ahead, because I'm scared of making mistakes. I appreciate what my dad's doing for us, because I know we're going to need this kind of knowledge to last in the real world, but I don't know what to study. Moreover, I can't think of many options. Does anyone have any ideas, or maybe a list of trades to study? Also, thank you smiling_freds_biz_info, my dad actually bought a copy of Rich Kid Smart Kid for me and my siblings a year or two ago, it's one of my favorites because I can read it over and over and still pick up something new each time. I'll be sure to look into How to Win Friends and Influence People. Thanks everyone for your answers so far. :)

How do I get started trading equity options and futures? I have a quant background in hedging, so I'm not asking for guidance on how to learn modeling or developing strategies for trading options. I have work experience doing option valuation and developing dynamic replication strategies, but I have never done the trading. I want to start relatively small - I'm comfortable putting about $20K at risk. I would be looking to hedge options against options while trying to limit the amount of dynamic hedging. I expect that I'll need set up some margin in addition to any net option premium. Is $20K reasonable? Are there brokers specializing in options? Does anyone recommend CME, CBOE or other tools? (I know that some exchanges offer tools for subscription.) Thanks!
