What is the best online platform for trading stock options? I'm currently with sharebuilder because they didn't require a minimum... I've since gotten heavily invested into stock trading/option trading... I don't believe this is the best site for trading options, because I cannot find some of the quote symbols I find on other sites. Let me know.
What is the best place and what are the requirements there to do stock options trading? Looking for a place to do stock options trading and experiment with a couple of trades first. Any recommendations? Well Nick, you are just full of fear aren't you? Apparently you are doing quite well at it and don't want anyone else in or else you are to ignorant to be able to do it yourself. When you tell somebody that something is not worthwhile, how about next time descibing a situation that looks profitable and explain why I might loose money doing it? Then maybe your arguement might have merit!

How are Options Trade different from Stock Trading? I'm a college student and recently I've been playing stock simulation games online. Hopefully I gather enough capital to trade in the real market within a few years from now. What I do on the simulation game is simply buying and selling company stocks. I noticed some people make a lot of profit from doing options trade. How does Options Trade work? How is it different from regular stock trading? Would you say it's riskier investment method than stock?
About how much would it cost to develop a software for stock options trading? About how much would it cost to develop software that could make about 1000 calculations per second, grab dynamic information from the web or another trading platform, and trade derivatives of stocks through a brokerage by itself? Thank you. These answers are of little help. An estimate from someone that knows about software would be ideal. Thank you.
Tax advice for stock options trading account? I opened a stock options brokerage account to buy and hold options. What i need to know is about the taxing of these. Say i inves (deposit) $1000.00 to open the account and buy $1000.00 worth of stock options and they perform excellent. Say they go up in value 50% each month. And at some pont in the near future i want to WITHDRAW my initial deposit since i earned it back. CAN I WITHDRAW THE INITIAL DEPOSIT AMOUNT WITHOUT IT BEING TAXED? Also-Can a`stock options trading account be taxed quarterly instead of once a year? How can i figure out how much of my investment return i CAN WITHDRAW periodically and what that tax would be or can't i? THANKS
How does trading stock options work? For instance, can I simply trade the contract cost without ever having an obligation to the shares? For instance, let's say I buy a call contract at $2.50 ($250.00) and the next day the stock rises and the same call contract is worth $2.55 ($255.00). Would I be able to sale the same call contact for the $2.55 with no other obligations even before the expiration? Does it also work that way with put options? Thank you
Is it time we make the SEC remove all options trading and shorting from the stock trading system in the US? Let's get real, it, having been used by Hedge Funds and large conglomerate CEOs and other inside officers has enticed too much corruption and is sucking the US Dollar value dry! If you think a stock is going down, sell it....simple as that and make the big boys do that too! No more of this cooperative bouncing the stock between option strike prices to suck the capital out of hard working American's retirement savings! Lets get the common back in the stock market!
How is historical volatility useful when trading stock options? I guess my real question is: how is historical volatility useful in combination with implied volatility? I realize that implied volatility is important in determining whether or not options are over-priced or under-priced. When I calculate the implied volatility of an option, do I then need to compare it to the option's historical volatility OR do I need to compare the option's implied volatility to what the implied volatility has historically been for that option (thereby not using historical volatility rather historical values of implied volatility)?
What's the best stock / options trading platform? I need to know what is the most recommended / best-rated trading platform. Thank you. thanx for the answers: there's a 2008 version of Barron's comparison of brokerages: http://online.barrons.com/article/SB120554254483438485.html?page=sp

Is there a simulator for online stock/options trading with a particular company like E-Trade? I would like to start investing online, however, I first want to become comfortable with a particular company's online setup for buying/selling stocks and options. I want to know how to conduct trades quickly, and I would feel more comfortable if I could practice first with a company's simulator where I am first using like "fake money" to practice trading, and once I'm comfortable with the website, I can just start using real cash. Is there a stock/options trading company which offers a simulator?

Trading stock options: price, volume, expiration... etc? I am new to trading options and have a few basic questions. 1. If an option is selling for .15, that means it is 15 cents for the contract to put/call 100 shares right? 2. If I buy 10 contracts of .15, how much will that order cost? <see #4> 3. I know options can be traded before expiration, however, what is the volume like? On a small cap, that sees significant movement [3%+] in favor of my option, will I be able to unload it that day should I see fit? 4. I'm looking at an options chain for SNDK today. The $52.5 Nov-06 call last trade was .50 cents, with a volume today of 619. Does that mean that only $309.5 was traded in this option today? thanks all!
